VSCA Advocacy End of Session (2022) Update
Thank you for your efforts to support School Counseling in Virginia and working to do what's best for Virginia's students!
The 2022 Virginia General Assembly session adjourned on March 12. While a special session will be called to vote on a State Budget, all legislation related to VSCA has been acted upon.
HB 829: School counselors; staffing ratios, flexibility - Passed the House and Senate (with amendments) unanimously.
HB 1034: School boards; guidelines for the provision of counseling services in public schools - Passed by Indefinitely by Senate Education Committee (this means that they chose to not vote on the measure, but also not allow it out of committee.)
VSCA Advocacy and Government Relations is working to put together Regional Advocacy teams. If you are interested in joining one of these teams or working in other ways on the committee, please send an email to vscaadvocacy@gmail.com.
Thank you again for your emails, phone calls and conversations with legislators!
