In Appreciation and Gratitude
The Virginia School Counselor Association has advocated for school counselors in Virginia, and for school counseling programs for students and families in K-12 schools in Virginia public schools.
Over the years, VSCA has been supported by many educational and service organizations, without it could not have achieved some of VSCA's political objectives. Annually, the VSCA Inter-Professional committee invites representatives from supporting organizations to the VSCA Conference, to acknowledge their support and partnership in serving the need of children and families.
The Virginia Education Coalition
Since 1999, the Virginia Education Coalition has provided a unified voice in advocating for and improving K-12 education in the Commonwealth of Virginia. VSCA has been a charter member of VEC. During the 2002 General Assembly session, the support of VEC was instrumental in passing HB 1136, which returned the requirement for Elementary School Counselors in Virginia public schools.
