Virginia School Counselor Association (VSCA)
and Affiliations
To continue to grow as professionals, school counselors are urged to become involved in the services and programs of as many related professional oganizations as possible.
- Virginia Counselors Association (VCA) is the Virginia organization that serves counselors in all work settings. VCA sponsors the VSCA as its largest division. To become a member of VSCA, you must also join VCA. The local chapters geographically distributed throughout Virginia are also under the VCA umbrella. - The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) represents school counselors at the national level, and provides support, resources and training to school counselors directly and through its state divisions, including VSCA. More information at www.schoolcounselor.org
- VSCA is chartered by both VCA and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). VSCA is the counselor organization providing services and programs for Virginia's school counselors in elementary, middle, secondary, post secondary, and graduate student settings.
- The American Counseling Association (ACA) is a national organization that represents counselors from all occupational settings. VCA is a state branch of ACA. For more information about ACA visit www.counseling.org
- The Education Coalition of Virginia is a state organization focused on desire to support K-12 education policies and practices in the Commonwealth and to promote a collective advocacy for public education.
